NOW® Betaine HCI is formulated to support proper digestive conditions in the stomach. Hydrochloric acid (HCI) is normally produced in the stomach, where it assists protein digestion by activating pepsin, helps to maintain a healthy balance of gut flora, and stimulates the release of intestinal enzymes. Pepsin is a protease produced in the stomach that partially breaks down proteins in foods. HCI production tends to decline with age, so supplementing with HCl and pepsin may help to maintain normal digestive function. This product uses a vegetarian acid-stable protease with activity equivalent to that of animal-derived pepsin.
Digestive Support: Provides 648 mg of betaine hydrochloric acid (HCl) per capsule to help maintain healthy stomach acidity, which tends to decline with age.
Pepsin Equivalent: Includes a vegetarian, acid-stable protease (fungal pepsin from Aspergillus niger) to help break down proteins effectively.
Gut Health: Assists in activating pepsin, stimulating intestinal enzymes, and supporting a balanced gut flora.
Take 1-2 capsules at the beginning of each meal. Do not take on an empty stomach.
